To keep it interesting, vary the snare pattern slightly 
through the piece, especially on the chorus. This is hard 
to write but its generally adding a 16th beat on the last 
beat of the bar, and sometimes dragging with the left 
hand. Don't do it continuously, just now and a again.

Crashes should be soft, almost a ride, because the drums are really only a backing beat, not a main part of the track.
