It was the night before Christmas

We exchanged gifts

By the glow of the fireplace light

We sang until past midnight 
The songs of joy and love 
Then bells started ringing 
Like a sign from above 
That now with the dawn 
It became Christmas morn 
I couldn't help thinking of

I heard the sounds of young laughter 
And saw children playing outside 
Making snow angels 
And sharing sled rides 
And Johnny was passing around his new Christmas horn 
And I felt all the love 
From the morning Jesus was born.
